Lagos re-arraigns Evans for Alleged Murder of two policemen

The Lagos State Government has re-arraigned convicted billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, on fresh charges of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to kidnap.

Evans and his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, appeared before Justice Oyindamola Ogala on a five-count amended charge, following the case’s transfer from Justice Adenike Coker.

According to the prosecution, the duo allegedly killed two police officers—Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi—on August 27, 2013, around 10 p.m. in Festac Town, Lagos. The charges violate Section 221 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2011.

Despite previous plea bargain applications, both defendants pleaded not guilty. The court adjourned the case to November 19, 2025, for hearing and witness summons.

Evans is already serving time, having been convicted in two of his five ongoing criminal cases.
