President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of his ascension to the revered throne of his ancestors.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President joined the government and people of Edo State, the Benin Traditional Council, and the royal family in commemorating the monarch’s impactful reign.
President Tinubu lauded the Oba for his unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and cultural preservation, describing his nine-year stewardship as one of “unrelenting service to his domain and the nation.”
Championing National Values and Cultural Heritage

Tinubu hailed the monarch’s vocal advocacy and initiatives in this regard as “vital in safeguarding the future of Nigerian youth.”
Furthermore, he praised the royal father’s leadership in promoting cultural renaissance, notably his efforts to reclaim looted Benin artefacts from Western institutions. The President described this mission as a powerful symbol of Africa’s cultural dignity and heritage restoration.
A Reign of Legacy and Purpose
“As the Oba of Benin marks nine years on the ancient throne of his ancestors, I salute his unwavering leadership in preserving Benin’s cultural legacy and passing it on to future generations,” President Tinubu said.
He concluded his message by offering prayers for long life, robust health, and continued success for the monarch, as he guides the ancient Benin Kingdom through modern challenges while upholding tradition.
