Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly dismissed rumours suggesting he is planning to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking after the inaugural meeting of the Accommodation Sub-Committee for the PDP’s forthcoming national convention, Adeleke, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee, reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and described the speculation as baseless.
“Some people say I might be planning to join the APC because I have friends there or have been seen attending their events. I’m a very civilised person,” Adeleke stated.
“If I have friends in the APC and they invite me to a wedding or social function, I will attend. That doesn’t mean I’m joining them.”
Committed to PDP and Convention Success
The Governor emphasised his active role in preparing for the PDP national convention, scheduled for October 15 and 16, underscoring his ongoing commitment to the party’s future.
“As we speak, I am the Deputy Chairman of our convention and also chair the Accommodation Committee. I remain a loyal member of the PDP,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge stronger from its internal challenges, assuring stakeholders that the party is focused on resolving issues constructively.
“The PDP does not believe in propaganda or endless talk. Many people from other parties are also defecting — that’s politics. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow, but everyone has the right to do as they wish,” he added.
