PDP names 13-member screening committee ahead of 2025 national convention in Ibadan

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the formation of a 13-member National Convention Screening Committee tasked with vetting aspirants for various national offices ahead of its much-anticipated 2025 Elective National Convention, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement released on October 25, 2025, by the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) and signed by its Chairman, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, the screening exercise is set to hold on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

The committee will be chaired by Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), a former Ondo State governorship candidate and renowned legal practitioner. He will be assisted by Hon. Mohammed L.S. Diri (SAN) as Deputy Chairman, with Mr. Asue Ighodalo, Esq., serving as Secretary, and Jacob Otorkpa as Deputy Secretary.

Other members of the committee include Emmanuel Enoidem (SAN), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief (Mrs.) Aduke Maina, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Achike Udenwa, Hajia Maryam Inna Ciroma, HM Felix Hassan Hyat, HM Zainab Maina, and Chinedu Nwachukwu, who will also serve as Administrative Secretary.

According to the statement, the composition of the committee underscores the PDP’s dedication to transparency, integrity, and internal democracy as it prepares for the national convention.

“The NCOC expects that the committee members will conduct themselves with exemplary discipline and strict adherence to party guidelines during this crucial assignment, thereby justifying the confidence reposed in them,” the statement read.

Governor Fintiri further assured party members that the screening process will be conducted with fairness and impartiality, reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This exercise is vital to ensuring that only credible, competent, and loyal members are selected to lead our great party,” Fintiri emphasized.
