The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection exercise in Anambra State, following appeals from citizens and stakeholders seeking additional time for eligible voters to obtain their cards.
In a statement released on Monday night, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, said the exercise—originally scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, 2025—has now been extended from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards in Anambra State,” the statement read.
“The decision was reached at a meeting of the Commission held on Monday, October 27, 2025, following several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to enable eligible voters to collect their cards.”
According to INEC, the extension applies to individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.
The Commission urged all registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to take advantage of the extension and visit the designated collection centres across the 326 Registration Areas (Wards) in Anambra State.
Eta-Messi also reminded voters that PVC collection is strictly personal, stressing that no collection by proxy would be allowed.
INEC expressed appreciation to residents for their patience, cooperation, and enthusiasm, and called on all eligible voters to prepare for the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.
“INEC appreciates the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of the good people of Anambra State and urges all eligible voters to use this opportunity to collect their PVCs and get ready to participate in the forthcoming governorship election,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, INEC declared Anambra “fully prepared” for the election scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025. The announcement followed a week-long readiness assessment conducted by a delegation from the Commission’s headquarters, led by the National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus.
