The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents and motorists of their safety, dismissing rumours of a planned disruption on the Third Mainland Bridge by some youths.
In a statement on Monday, October 27, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the police were aware of messages circulating about an alleged plan to cause unrest around the Oworonshoki axis and had already deployed personnel to maintain peace.
“The Command wishes to assure the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to maintain law and order across the state,” Adebisi stated.
She noted that officers had been strategically deployed to ensure the safety of all road users and to prevent any form of obstruction or violence. The police also urged Lagosians to go about their normal activities without fear and to cooperate with security personnel where necessary.
“The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property, and to ensuring the free flow of traffic across Lagos State,” the statement added.
The reassurance followed growing public concern over viral online messages warning of possible unrest or traffic disruptions on the busy bridge, which connects the Lagos Mainland to the Island.
The Command reiterated its readiness to swiftly respond to any situation that could threaten public peace or stability.
