The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced that Eze’s appointment follows the recent elevation of the Nigeria Police Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate.
According to Hundeyin, the creation of the new directorate is aimed at enhancing the quality, scope, and efficiency of healthcare delivery for police personnel across the country.
Egbetokun, in his congratulatory message, urged AIG Eze to leverage her professional expertise and administrative experience to position the directorate as a model of excellence in police medical services and personnel welfare.
The statement described Eze as “a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator” with more than 27 years of outstanding service in the Nigeria Police Force.
Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, AIG Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Her career has spanned various police formations in Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she made notable contributions to the development of police healthcare systems and the well-being of officers.
Egbetokun noted that the establishment of the Directorate of Force Medical Services marks a strategic investment in the health and productivity of police personnel, describing it as crucial to the operational effectiveness of the Force.
