Nigeria stands firm as a democracy founded on constitutional guarantees of religious liberty and equality for all citizens.
Since 2023, our administration has maintained open and continuous engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders, while addressing security challenges that affect Nigerians across all faiths and regions.
Any characterization of Nigeria as a nation of religious intolerance does not reflect our national reality. It overlooks the consistent and genuine efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and belief for every Nigerian.
Religious freedom and tolerance are core principles of our national identity—and they shall always remain so. Nigeria firmly opposes all forms of religious persecution and does not condone or support such acts.
As a country governed by constitutional protections for people of all faiths, Nigeria remains committed to upholding these values.
Our administration looks forward to continued collaboration with the Government of the United States and the broader international community to strengthen mutual understanding and advance the protection of all faith communities.
