Tinubu vows to defeat terrorism, strengthen global partnerships

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with international partners.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” the President declared before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) went into a closed-door session on Thursday.

The meeting, held at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, was the first FEC gathering since July.

Tinubu’s remarks came days after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a decision the Federal Government has described as a misrepresentation of the country’s security reality.

In his first public reaction to the designation, Tinubu said his government continues to engage the international community to advance security, stability, and economic growth.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy,” he stated.

The President reaffirmed that Nigeria remains united and resolute in its pursuit of peace and prosperity, while commending his cabinet members for their commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda. He urged them to remain focused and united in driving ongoing government reforms.
