Morocco Thrash New Caledonia 16–0 to Set New U-17 World Cup Record

Morocco has written its name in the history books after recording the biggest victory ever at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, demolishing New Caledonia 16–0 to keep their hopes of advancing to the knockout stages alive.

The result shattered the previous tournament record held by Spain, who defeated New Zealand 13–0 in an earlier edition.

Sunday’s match was one-sided from start to finish, with Morocco’s attack proving unstoppable. Abdelali Eddaoudi spearheaded the rout, scoring twice in the first half and playing a pivotal role in the team’s relentless offensive display — a performance that earned him the Player of the Match award.

New Caledonia’s misery deepened after two of their players — Typhan Dreuko and Jean Canehmez — were sent off in the first half for foul play, leaving the team to finish the match with nine men.

Morocco made full use of their numerical advantage, as Oualid Ibn Salah, Abdelali Eddaoudi, Ziyad Baha, Nahel Haddani, Ismail El Aoud, and Abdellah Ouazane each bagged braces to complete the record-breaking scoreline.

With the emphatic victory, Morocco finished third in Group B, behind Japan and Portugal, and will now wait for results from other groups to determine if they qualify as one of the best third-placed teams for the Round of 32.
