The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a downward review of the 2026 Hajj fares for intending pilgrims across the country.

The adjustment follows a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, conveyed through his Deputy Chief of Staff, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, in October, instructing the Commission to reduce the previously announced fares to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims.

In a statement released on Monday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, NAHCON revealed the new fare structure for pilgrims across the different zones.

According to the update:

  • Pilgrims from the Borno and Adamawa Zones will now pay ₦7,579,020.96, down from ₦8,327,125.59 in 2025 — a reduction of ₦748,104.63.
  • Pilgrims from the Northern Zone will pay ₦7,696,769.76, representing a decrease of ₦760,915.83 from the previous year’s ₦8,457,685.59.
  • Pilgrims from the Southern Zone will pay ₦7,991,141.76, a reduction of ₦792,943.83 from the ₦8,784,085.59 charged in 2025.

NAHCON explained that the review aims to “ease the financial burden on intending pilgrims and encourage wider participation” in the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The Commission also announced December 5, 2025, as the new deadline for all Hajj payments, urging intending pilgrims to complete their payments on or before the stated date to ensure smooth processing and participation.
