Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a wanted drug trafficker, Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, popularly known as Chisco Bee, recovering a large consignment of illicit drugs and foreign currency during a raid in Lagos.
Ibemesi, 42, who is the MD/CEO of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig. Ltd, was apprehended in the early hours of Saturday, November 15, at Daisy Garden Hotel, located at Ago Palace Way, Isolo. His arrest followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on his suspected drug operations.
According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, operatives proceeded to the suspect’s warehouse at 7 Pius Ezeobi Street, also in Isolo, where they recovered 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) weighing 1,762.8 kg.
Cash recovered at the point of arrest included $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars.
11,135kg Skunk Seized in Osun Forest
In a separate major operation, NDLEA operatives thwarted an attempt by a drug syndicate operating in the Orita-Apeje, Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve in Ife South LGA of Osun State to load and distribute 11,135 kg of processed skunk.
Two trucks used by the suspects—a Volvo truck (WWR 29 XA) and a Mercedes truck (AWK 713 YZ)—were seized, and seven suspects arrested: Lucky Abiodun, Julius Amos, Victor Ngbikili, Sunday Oduegwu, Ibrahim Akanni, Eze Godstime, and Fred Ifeanyichukwu.
Massive Raids Across Edo, Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kwara, and Lagos
NDLEA also reported significant seizures in multiple states:
- Edo State:
- 184.1 kg recovered along Oza/Igbanke road
- 672 kg evacuated from Utese forest
- 494 kg seized from a Mercedes Benz (suspect Felix Edah, 45, arrested)
- 552 kg recovered from another Mercedes Benz driven by Lucky Abagha, 51
- Ogun State:
Four suspects—Michael Okoh, Offor Agada, Raphael Nkemjika, and Nwabueze Franklin—arrested with 68 kg of skunk and 3.150 kg of methamphetamine along the Ijebu-Ode expressway. - Taraba State:
Danjuma Tukura, 50, arrested with 172 kg of skunk in Sunkani, Ardo Kola LGA;
Wisdom Titus, 24, nabbed with 84 kg in Takum. - Adamawa State:
396,000 capsules of tramadol recovered at Yola Airport from Ahmed Isyaku Nda, 50. - Nasarawa State:
785 kg of skunk evacuated from the warehouse of a fleeing suspect in Asob Maraba, Karu. - Lagos:
Two suspects, Jamiu Kunle Kardoso and Oriyomi Waliu, arrested with 65.15 kg of Canadian Loud in Surulere;
Taofeek Moraina caught with 141 kg of Ghana Loud in Otto, Oyingbo. - Kwara State:
- Truck (T-0262KT) intercepted along Ilorin–Jebba road carrying 78.565 kg of skunk and 155 cartons of rubber solution; driver Umar Yakubu arrested.
- Commercial bus (KJA-657CY) seized in Eiyenkorin with 20 blocks of skunk hidden in a 50-litre jerry can; driver Ibrahim Bello arrested.
NDLEA Expands WADA Sensitisation Nationwide
NDLEA commands across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns in schools, worship centres and communities. Outreach programmes were held in Zamfara, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Enugu, Lagos, and Ogun states, among others.
NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended officers for the extensive seizures and arrests, urging them to sustain the agency’s balanced and aggressive approach to drug control.
