Eruku Bandit Attack: Two killed, one injured as Kwara Police launch manhunt

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed that an early Tuesday bandit attack in Eruku, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area, resulted in two deaths, while one person sustained gunshot injuries.

According to the Command, officers from the Eruku Divisional Police Headquarters, supported by local vigilante operatives, responded immediately after gunshots were heard on the outskirts of the community. Their rapid intervention forced the armed attackers to escape into the surrounding forest.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed that two victims were found fatally shot. One of them, identified as Mr Aderemi, was discovered inside the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, while another victim, Mr Tunde Asaba Ajayi, was found dead in the nearby bush.

A vigilante member, Segun Alaja, sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter and was taken to ECWA Hospital in Eruku for urgent medical attention.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, assured residents that security agencies remain fully committed to apprehending the perpetrators, stressing that the manhunt will continue until the criminals are completely neutralised.
