The management of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, in Kebbi State, has ordered the immediate closure of the institution, directing all staff and students to leave the campus at once.
In a memo released by the Office of the Registrar and Secretary to Council, the university stated that the shutdown takes effect immediately and applies to all categories of students—postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma, remedial, and IJMB.
The notice, signed by Registrar Maimaro Tilli, instructed students to vacate the campus within one hour of the announcement. It added that the Security Division has been authorized to remove any student found in hostels or other restricted areas.
Students living off campus, including those in areas like Gidan Rami, were also urged to leave their residences to avoid what the memo described as potential “embarrassment” from university security officials.
No specific reason was given for the abrupt closure, and the university noted that the directive will remain in effect until further notice.
However, reliable sources indicated that the decision may be linked to rising security concerns affecting schools across northern Nigeria.
