President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to eliminate terrorism and banditry across Northern Nigeria, vowing that no part of the country would be left to violence under his watch.
Speaking at the 25th Anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna, and represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, Tinubu described the North as facing one of its most severe tests in history, characterized by rising insecurity, the erosion of communal values, and a distortion of longstanding moral principles.
While acknowledging that his government inherited complex and deeply entrenched security challenges, Tinubu emphasized that restoring peace remained an urgent and unwavering priority. “Nigeria cannot prosper when a key part of its national body is paralysed,” he warned, adding that the stability of the North is essential to the peace and progress of the entire federation.
The President also pledged to reverse the region’s economic decline, expressing confidence that the roll-out of crude oil from the Kolmani fields, along with new discoveries across the North, would mark a historic turning point for regional prosperity. He stressed that his administration is implementing policies to transform the North into a major energy hub capable of driving national development.
Tinubu praised the ACF for sustaining 25 years of moral leadership, describing the forum as a reservoir of intellectuals, patriots, and mediators who have consistently defended the dignity and aspirations of millions. He lauded the foresight of its founding fathers for building an institution strong enough to withstand national turbulence and articulate the collective hopes of the North.
Echoing the President’s message, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin expressed confidence in the North’s ability to overcome insecurity if leaders act with collective resolve.
