A high-powered security meeting was held on Tuesday in Kano following the abduction of 10 residents across three villages in Tsanyanwa Local Government Area of the state.
The meeting was convened by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Ahmed Garba, who oversees Zone One Headquarters, Kano.
Present at the meeting were tactical and intelligence commanders from both Kano and Jigawa States, reflecting the cross-border nature of the recent security challenges.
The session focused on the escalating banditry and kidnapping incidents affecting parts of Kano State, with the objective of crafting a comprehensive strategy to curb the attacks and safeguard vulnerable communities.
Discussions centred on the operational modalities required to halt the violence threatening innocent citizens in both states. The commanders also outlined measures that would enhance ongoing security operations, including efforts to reinforce the deployment of police personnel from the Kano Command and align activities with military units already stationed in the affected areas.
The meeting is expected to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and accelerate responses to emerging threats across the Kano–Jigawa axis.
