The Dangote Petroleum Refinery on Monday began supplying 50 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) per day to the Nigerian market to avert any fuel scarcity during the festive season.
The company confirmed that the December supply totals 1.5 billion litres, the same volume expected to be delivered in January 2026.
President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, said the move aligns with the company’s commitment to ensuring Nigerians experience a fuel-scarcity-free holiday period.
“In line with our commitment to national well-being, and consistent with our track record of ensuring a holiday season free of fuel scarcity, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will supply 1.5 billion litres of PMS to the Nigerian market this month. This represents 50 million litres per day,” Dangote said.
He added that the refinery will increase supply to 1.75 billion litres in February 2026, translating to over 60 million litres per day.
Refinery Producing Up to 45 Million Litres Daily
Speaking during a visit by the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) to the refinery and the Dangote Fertiliser complex, Dangote noted that the facility currently has adequate stock and is producing between 40 and 45 million litres of PMS per day.
He said the new supply schedule should permanently dispel claims that Nigerian refineries lack the capacity to meet national demand.
Marketers, CNG Logistics Strengthening Distribution
Dangote also revealed ongoing engagements with petroleum marketers to enhance distribution capacity nationwide, including expanding the use of CNG-powered haulage trucks to reduce transportation costs and improve efficiency.
“Our priority is to ensure Nigeria receives the products it needs. This is not driven by profit motives; it is about guaranteeing the availability of essential energy products. It is similar to the transformation we delivered in the cement sector,” he said.
Regulator Invited to Verify Production Capacity
In a letter signed by David Bird, Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Refinery, and addressed to the Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the company invited the regulator to verify its actual daily production capacity amid ongoing public speculation.
