The Federal Government will soon reveal the identities of terrorists and their financiers as part of intensified measures to dismantle funding networks sustaining violent groups across Nigeria, presidential aide Daniel Bwala has said.
Speaking in a live interview with TVC on Sunday, Bwala highlighted Nigeria-US collaboration efforts and outlined steps the government is taking to curb rising insecurity.
“The lifeline of all terrorist activities is finances. When you cut their finances, the threat dies naturally. Previous administrations knew the financiers but did not act. This President is not going to tolerate that,” Bwala said. “In the coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are and those funding them.”
Bwala emphasized that terror groups in Nigeria use sophisticated weapons, surveillance drones, and military uniforms, pointing to well-established financing channels within and beyond the country. He referenced the U.S. strategy against ISIS, which crippled the group by targeting its financial networks.
As part of the new security measures, the government has approved a major recruitment drive across security agencies and plans to strengthen border controls, especially along porous routes used by terrorists to transport arms, fighters, and illicit funds.
He noted that recent attacks on schools, religious centres, and remote communities underscore the urgency of the strategy. This has led to the revival of the “Safe Schools Initiative” under the Ministry of Finance to protect children and educational institutions.
