Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective November 4, 2025.
The development was disclosed late Monday night in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, Governor Adeleke’s resignation letter was addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.
Adeleke attributed his decision to the lingering crisis within the national leadership of the PDP.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,”
the letter stated.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the party for the platform it provided him to serve both as a Senator representing Osun West and as Governor of Osun State.
Adeleke’s political future has been a subject of intense speculation amid questions surrounding the PDP’s internal disputes and its legal standing. Unofficial reports suggest the governor may be aligning with the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, as the crisis within the main opposition party deepens.
