President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday held a high-level security meeting with Nigeria’s service chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies at the State House, Abuja, issuing fresh directives aimed at strengthening the nation’s security architecture and accelerating results in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other emerging threats.
The closed-door session, which lasted over an hour, comes as the administration intensifies efforts to stabilise troubled regions and ensure a peaceful festive season for Nigerians.
In attendance were the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Undiadeye; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Wahidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke.
Speaking after the meeting, General Oluyede described the engagement as “quite productive,” noting that President Tinubu demanded enhanced efficiency, tighter coordination, and more effective execution of operational strategies across all security formations.
He added that Nigerians should expect a safer and more stable environment in the coming weeks, especially as the country enters the yuletide season.
Tuesday’s meeting is the latest in a series of strategic briefings the President has held with security institutions following his declaration of a national security emergency to address escalating threats nationwide.
