Real Madrid’s French star Kylian Mbappe was absent from training on Tuesday, the day before his team’s crucial Champions League match against Manchester City.
The forward sustained a broken finger during Sunday’s La Liga loss to Celta Vigo. When approached by AFP, Real Madrid explained that Mbappe missed training due to that injury, as well as additional discomfort he experienced during the game.
If Mbappe is sidelined for Wednesday’s clash against City, it would be a major setback for coach Xabi Alonso, with Spanish media suggesting that a loss could result in his dismissal.
The 26-year-old striker, Madrid’s standout performer this season, has netted 25 goals in 21 matches across all competitions.
