The Federal Government has reiterated its strong support for young Nigerians in agriculture, as Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, restated the administration’s commitment at a high-level event on the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises – Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) Project.
Speaking at the event, the Minister underscored the critical role of Nigerian youth in transforming the agricultural sector through climate-smart innovation, digital technology, agro-processing, and enhanced market access. He noted that the LIFE-ND project is intentionally structured to dismantle longstanding barriers that hinder young people from thriving in agriculture—particularly challenges related to land access, financing, skills development, and entry into profitable markets.
Senator Kyari highlighted ongoing government efforts to expand youth access to land, affordable credit, business development support, digital agricultural marketplaces, and climate-resilient practices nationwide.
He also emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration among the private sector, state governments, development partners—including IFAD, the Federal Government, and the NDDC—and the youth themselves to build a more inclusive, resilient, and food-secure Nigeria.
The event featured inspiring success stories of emerging agripreneurs whose ventures have been transformed through the LIFE-ND initiative across the Niger Delta and beyond, illustrating the project’s growing impact on rural livelihoods and food systems.
