
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu (Rtd) as the new Chairman of the Military Pensions Board (MPB), effective 1 December 2025.
The appointment forms part of the Federal Government’s broader push to improve transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency in the management of military pensions.
AVM Adamu (Rtd) is a seasoned financial and defence administrator, bringing decades of experience from top-level roles, including:
- Director of Finance and Accounts, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC)
- Deputy Director of Budget, Defence Intelligence Agency
- Principal Staff Officer (Finance), Air Warfare Centre
- Director of Finance, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters
- Managing Director, Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL)
President Tinubu urged the new Chairman to uphold integrity, demonstrate patriotic service, and ensure improved welfare for military retirees through efficient pension administration.
The appointment has been widely hailed as a strategic step toward strengthening the pension system for Nigeria’s retired service personnel.
