American actor and WWE superstar John Cena has made history by becoming the individual who has granted the most wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with a record 650 fulfilled wishes.
Cena began his professional wrestling career in 1999 and rose to become one of the most celebrated figures in WWE history, winning 16 world championships. Known for his crowd-favourite persona, he also became the public face of WWE’s “Be a Star” anti-bullying campaign.
His involvement with Make-A-Wish started in 2002, when he granted his first wish, a commitment that later grew beyond wrestling into a lifelong dedication to the foundation.
Make-A-Wish is a non-profit organisation that fulfils the wishes of children aged two to 18 who are living with critical illnesses. These wishes range from meeting celebrities and attending special events to giving gifts to others. The foundation has also been widely referenced in popular culture, including the film The Fault in Our Stars.
Cena is the most requested celebrity in the organisation’s history, a distinction no one else has matched. In the foundation’s 42-year existence, no individual has ever granted more than 400 wishes—until now.
His record-breaking contribution has further cemented his legacy not only as a sports and entertainment icon but also as a humanitarian.
