The immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Oyebamiji clinched the party’s ticket in Osogbo after seven other aspirants unanimously stepped down in his favour, paving the way for his emergence by consensus.
In his acceptance speech, Oyebamiji, a former Osun State Commissioner for Finance, pledged to return the state to the path of sustainable growth and development.
The Chairman of the Osun APC Governorship Primary Committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, who supervised the primary election, described the unity displayed by party members as a strong indicator of victory for the APC in the 2026 election.
The primary election was attended by the Governors of Ondo and Nasarawa states, as well as the Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
