APC Condoles Bayelsa Over Sudden Death of Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo

Abuja, December 15, 2025 — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed in his office and died on December 11, 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party described the late deputy governor as a dedicated, compassionate, and versatile leader whose record of public service stood out at both the state and national levels.

According to the APC, Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a grassroots politician and respected peace-builder, widely known for his role in managing and resolving intra- and inter-community conflicts. The party noted that his efforts contributed significantly to stability in local communities and the protection of critical national assets in Bayelsa State.

The APC extended its condolences to Governor Douye Diri, the Bayelsa State Government, and the people of the state, as well as to the Ewhrudjakpo family, describing the death as a huge loss not only to Bayelsa but to Nigeria’s broader public service community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and political associates during this difficult time,” the statement said. “May the soul of our dearly departed Deputy Governor find eternal rest in the Lord. Amen.”

The party concluded by urging Bayelsans to take solace in the late deputy governor’s legacy of service, peace-building, and commitment to the public good.
