Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional duty to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensure national security.
The governor made the pledge on Monday while speaking at the 2025 Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference, held in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu commended the Nigerian Army for its sustained efforts in combating security threats across the country, noting that Nigerians recognise and deeply appreciate the sacrifices and professionalism of military personnel in keeping the nation safe.
“The nation sees you, values your service, and appreciates the enormous contributions you continue to make in protecting lives and property,” the governor said.
He encouraged participants at the conference to engage in open and constructive dialogue, stressing that frank discussions would help generate innovative ideas and practical solutions to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The conference, themed “Examining the Current Landscape of Terrorism Through the Lenses of Diplomatic and Military Action Strategy for Long-term Prevention and Stabilisation,” attracted top government and military officials.
In attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa (retd.), the Chief of Army Staff, and other service chiefs, alongside senior military commanders and security experts.
The annual conference provides a platform for strategic reflection, policy review, and coordination aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s counter-terrorism architecture and enhancing long-term national stability.
