President Tinubu Mourns Former CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), describing him as an eminent jurist dedicated to justice and the strengthening of Nigeria’s judiciary.

Justice Tanko, a native of Bauchi State, passed away on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia at the age of 71. He served as CJN from 2019 to 2022.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu highlighted the late jurist’s integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law, noting his distinguished career on the Bench and his mentorship of judges and legal practitioners across the country.

The President described Justice Tanko as a disciplined administrator and dedicated public servant whose contributions to Nigeria’s legal system will have a lasting impact.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Supreme Court, the Bar and the Bench, and the people of Bauchi State, praying for Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and comfort those he left behind.
