Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, marking a major step toward affordable fuel pricing and improved stability in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.
With more than 2,000 MRS stations spread across the country, the refinery said the new price regime is being implemented nationwide to ensure consumers fully benefit from the reduction. Dangote Refinery also commended marketers that have complied with the new pricing and urged others to follow suit in the national interest.
“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the refinery stated.
Traditionally, Nigeria’s festive season is marked by fuel scarcity and price hikes. However, Dangote Refinery described the new pricing as a decisive market intervention, backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, which it said would significantly alter supply dynamics during the holiday period.
By refining fuel locally at scale, the refinery said it is reducing Nigeria’s dependence on volatile international markets, conserving foreign exchange, supporting the naira, and strengthening national energy security. The sustained price reduction and steady supply are expected to ease pressure on households, businesses, and transport operators nationwide.
The refinery also warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price cut, urging government agencies to take firm action against such practices.
“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and act decisively, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement said.
Consumers were advised to avoid purchasing fuel at inflated prices when cheaper alternatives are available. Dangote Refinery encouraged Nigerians to buy PMS at ₦739 per litre from MRS outlets and to report any station selling above the approved price by calling 0800 123 5264.
The refinery also called on other petrol station operators to patronise its products so the benefits of the price reduction can be extended across the entire retail network, providing broader relief and ensuring a more stable downstream petroleum market.
