The Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode has refused to grant an interim injunction sought by popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, aimed at stopping the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Delivering his ruling on Monday, Justice A. A. Omoniyi dismissed the application, holding that it lacked merit and that the applicant failed to establish sufficient grounds for the grant of an interim injunction.
KWAM1, who was represented by Wahab Shittu (SAN), had asked the court to restrain Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and five other respondents from proceeding with the Awujale selection process pending the determination of his substantive suit.
The court, however, declined the request and ordered an accelerated hearing of the main suit, fixing 14 January 2026 for proceedings.
Background
KWAM1 had declared his interest in the vacant Awujale stool, claiming royal lineage from the Jadiara Royal House of the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House. However, the Fusengbuwa ruling house rejected his claim, insisting that the musician is not a member of the royal lineage.
In response, Ayinde filed a suit challenging what he described as an unjust exclusion from the selection process.

The suit, marked HC3/238/2025, was filed ex parte under relevant provisions of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024, Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution, and the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
Ayinde urged the court to restrain the respondents and their agents from taking any further steps in the Awujale installation process, arguing that the injunction was necessary to protect his interest and preserve the subject matter of the suit.
