Team Nigeria has secured its first medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with veteran para-powerlifter Roland Ezuruike claiming silver in the men’s Lightweight Group A event.
The 50-year-old finished with 153.9 points after two successful lifts, narrowly missing the gold medal when he failed in his final attempt to set a Commonwealth Games record of 190kg.
Ezuruike’s latest achievement extends his remarkable international career and reinforces Nigeria’s strong reputation in para-powerlifting as the country targets more medals in Glasgow.
