Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri, has signed into law the ₦583.3 billion Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year following its passage by the State House of Assembly.
The approved budget comprises ₦209.64 billion allocated to recurrent expenditure, representing 35.94 per cent of the total estimate, while ₦373.69 billion, accounting for 64.06 per cent, is earmarked for capital projects.
Governor Fintiri said the 2026 budget is driven by key strategic priorities aimed at strengthening infrastructure, expanding access to education and healthcare, creating jobs, and improving the welfare of residents across the state.
He noted that the budget emerged from extensive consultations and reflects the collective aspirations and needs of communities throughout Adamawa State.
Addressing security concerns, the governor disclosed that some of the newly trained forest guards would be deployed to Hong Local Government Area and other priority locations to tackle emerging security challenges in 2026.
Fintiri also pledged to enhance collaboration with the media and ensure effective implementation of the budget to achieve measurable progress in education, infrastructure, and other critical sectors.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley; members of the Assembly; and officials of the State Executive Council.
