Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, the governor announced his decision to leave the party with immediate effect, bringing an end to his long-standing association with the party that sponsored his election.
“I hereby formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” Mutfwang stated in the letter.
The governor expressed gratitude to the PDP and its leadership at all levels for the support and opportunities he received during his time in the party, acknowledging its role in his political career.
“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me with a platform to participate in the democratic process and for the support of party leaders, members, and supporters across all levels during my time in the party,” he said.
Explaining his decision, Mutfwang cited what he described as the “realities of the moment,” noting that his resolve to deliver effective governance and purposeful leadership informed his move.
“Considering the prevailing realities and guided by my commitment to clarity of vision, effective leadership, and service delivery to the people, I find it necessary to seek an alternative political platform,” the letter read.
The resignation was formally acknowledged on December 30, 2025, by the Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mr. Dasjak Sunday.
Governor Mutfwang concluded the letter by extending his regards to the party leadership. He has yet to disclose his next political destination.
