The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its electronic membership registration exercise in Benue, Ekiti and Enugu states as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots base and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
In Benue State, the APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, urged party members to fully participate in the ongoing e-registration exercise and encouraged residents to also take advantage of the Continuous Voter Registration being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Omale made the call on Thursday while welcoming a delegation of stakeholders from the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency at the party secretariat. He emphasised the need for unity, commitment and early mobilisation ahead of the next general elections.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to justice, equity and inclusive governance, Omale assured members that the APC would continue to engage and carry them along in its programmes and policies.
Leader of the delegation and Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Musa Ujor, praised the governor’s leadership and expressed confidence in the party’s leadership at all levels.
Elders and stakeholders from the constituency also commended Governor Alia for what they described as inclusive governance and endorsed both President Bola Tinubu and the governor for second terms. They cited key appointments and political positions allocated to indigenes of the Otukpo/Ohimini axis as evidence of the administration’s fairness.
The delegation, made up of elders, women, youths and other stakeholders, pledged total support for the APC and Governor Alia in the 2027 elections.
In Ekiti State, APC chieftain and governorship aspirant Kayode Ojo called for fairness and inclusiveness in the e-registration process. He urged party members and supporters across the state to actively participate, describing the exercise as an opportunity to address concerns over the alleged removal of some names from the party register ahead of previous primaries.
In a statement issued by his campaign spokesperson, Femi Awojobi, Ojo also invited members of other political parties to use the e-registration window to join the APC and contribute to national development under President Tinubu’s leadership.
He appealed particularly to supporters whose names were allegedly omitted from the party register to re-enlist, noting that the initiative was key to strengthening internal democracy. Ojo also commended President Tinubu for approving the e-registration exercise, saying it would help restore confidence and ensure equal rights within the party.
Earlier, the Ekiti APC leadership had also encouraged members to participate fully in the exercise. The State Coordinator of the e-registration and Commissioner for Youth Development, Adesola Adedayo, said the initiative would improve grassroots documentation and strengthen party structures.
In Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah said the APC was targeting the registration of at least two million members as the party launched its e-registration exercise in his ward at Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area.
Mbah described the exercise as a turning point following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in October 2025, declaring that the state was ready to move beyond what he termed fragmented politics.
According to the governor, the ambitious membership target is aimed at repositioning Enugu politically and ensuring the state benefits fully from federal programmes. He assured party members that the e-registration exercise was designed to strengthen, not displace, existing members through inclusiveness and discipline.
Also speaking, the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, and the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye, said the exercise was intended to digitalise the party’s membership database and align it with modern political practices. Eneukwu added that the use of National Identification Numbers would enhance transparency, credibility and accurate assessment of the party’s electoral strength.
