Nigeria will be without captain Wilfred Ndidi for their semi-final clash against hosts Morocco at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after the midfielder was suspended.
Ndidi received his second yellow card of the tournament during the Super Eagles’ 2–0 quarter-final victory over Algeria on Saturday, automatically ruling him out of the last-four encounter.
The Leicester City midfielder had previously been booked in Nigeria’s group-stage win over Mozambique, leaving him just one caution away from suspension heading into the Algeria match.
Although Ndidi was on the disciplinary watchlist alongside Calvin Bassey and Frank Onyeka, he was the only member of the trio to pick up another booking against the Desert Foxes.
Ndidi is expected to return to contention for either the final or the third-place playoff, depending on Nigeria’s result in the semi-final against Morocco.
