Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has called for reputation management education for newly appointed Nigerian ambassadors ahead of their deployment, saying it is critical to how the country is perceived on the global stage.
Fashola made the recommendation while delivering the keynote address at the Nigeria Reputation Summit 2026, hosted by the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG) in Abuja.
According to him, diplomats represent not just government policies but the image, values, and credibility of Nigeria, stressing that structured training in reputation management would enhance their effectiveness and global engagement.
The summit brought together key stakeholders in governance, media, and public relations to discuss strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s national image.
Dignitaries at the event included the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Chairman of Channels Media Group, Dr John Momoh; and President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku, among others.
The Nigeria Reputation Summit is aimed at fostering dialogue on nation branding, strategic communication, and reputation management as tools for national development and international credibility.
