Following months of speculation about a potential coup, the Nigerian military has concluded its investigation into the matter, submitting its findings to President Bola Tinubu.
Despite earlier denials from both the Defence Headquarters and the Presidency, which had refuted claims of a coup attempt tied to the cancellation of the October 1 Independence Day Parade, the investigation has confirmed the involvement of certain officers.
According to a source close to the inquiry, the report has now been handed over to the president, who will make the final decision on the next steps.
The source revealed that those implicated in the investigation will face sanctions, contingent upon President Tinubu’s approval of the findings.
The report represents a pivotal moment in addressing the allegations, with the president’s decision expected to shape the direction of any further actions.
