The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), FCT Wing, has instructed all primary and secondary school teachers in the Federal Capital Territory to participate in the ongoing strike action led by the Joint Union Action Committee. The strike, which aims to address unresolved issues affecting teachers in the region, is set to officially begin today.
This move comes after a series of unresolved grievances between the union and the government, with teachers expressing frustration over matters such as welfare, salary adjustments, and other working conditions. The strike is expected to impact public schools across the territory, leaving parents and students concerned about potential disruptions to the academic calendar.
As the situation unfolds, the union has reiterated its commitment to pushing for the rights of teachers and is calling on the government to engage in meaningful dialogue to resolve the issues.
