The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has announced that the state is no longer experiencing power outages resulting from frequent collapses of the National Grid. His administration has taken proactive steps by investing in converting organic waste into electricity.
Governor Otti made the revelation during a media briefing at the state’s government house on Thursday. He highlighted that waste products are now being converted into renewable energy through biogas technology, ensuring a stable power supply for Abians.
The governor also mentioned that the state is no longer under the jurisdiction of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in terms of power management. He confirmed that this new arrangement has been successfully negotiated with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), which is responsible for electricity distribution in the state.
