The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reaffirmed its capability to supply significantly more fuel than Nigeria’s estimated daily domestic consumption.
In a statement released on Thursday evening, the refinery confirmed it can deliver 75 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) per day, far surpassing Nigeria’s estimated consumption of 50 million litres daily.
In addition to petrol, the refinery also has the capacity to supply 25 million litres of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) daily, compared to the country’s estimated demand of 14 million litres, and 20 million litres of aviation fuel daily, which is well above the estimated national consumption of four million litres.
The refinery highlighted that providing volumes beyond current demand not only creates essential supply buffers but also helps stabilize the market and reduce reliance on imports, especially during times of peak demand or logistical challenges.
“The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery wishes to reaffirm our capacity to supply the following petroleum products of the highest international quality standards to marketers and stakeholders: 75 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit, 25 million litres of Automotive Gas Oil, and 20 million litres of aviation fuel daily,” the statement read.
It further emphasized that supplying more than the estimated consumption reduces the need for emergency imports, strengthens inventory cover, and improves the resilience of Nigeria’s domestic supply chain.
Dangote also reiterated its commitment to full regulatory compliance and ongoing cooperation with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, affirming that its supply strategy is in line with efforts to maintain market stability and ensure orderly downstream operations.
The refinery remains actively engaged with regulators and industry stakeholders to support Nigeria’s national energy security goals as the country transitions from fuel imports to local refining.
