Oshodi, Lagos — Three people, including two pedestrians and a driver, were injured on Sunday following a serious road traffic accident involving a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)–laden truck and a Toyota Corolla at the Apakun Bridge, inward Oshodi.
The truck, registered EKY 120 YK, allegedly traveling at excessive speed, rammed into the moving Toyota Corolla (EKY 289 HM) at the summit of the bridge. LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq said the truck driver ignored basic traffic safety protocols, causing the collision, which also struck two pedestrians.
The crash disrupted traffic and posed immediate danger to lives and property. Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), supported by the Ajao Police Division and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, quickly responded, rescuing the injured and transporting them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, condemned the rising cases of reckless driving and overspeeding, especially by truck and tanker operators, describing such behavior as irresponsible and dangerous. He warned that the Lagos State Government would enforce traffic laws strictly to protect lives and urged all drivers to comply with speed regulations.
