Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has completed a move from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid, signing a contract running until June 30, 2030. The transfer fee is reported to be around €40 million ($47.5 million).
The 28-year-old winger scored a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 2024 Europa League triumph over Bayer Leverkusen and has netted three goals in 19 appearances this season.
Born in London, Lookman began his career at Charlton Athletic, moved to Everton, and spent time in Germany with RB Leipzig before joining Atalanta in 2022.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone sought reinforcements after departures of Giacomo Raspadori and Conor Gallagher, and to help end striker Julian Alvarez’s goal drought in La Liga.
