Elon Musk has become the richest person in the world by a huge margin, with his estimated net worth reaching about $852 billion after a landmark merger between his companies SpaceX and xAI was announced.
According to Forbes, the deal, announced on Monday, combined Musk’s space exploration company SpaceX and his artificial intelligence firm xAI into a single entity valued at around $1.25 trillion — significantly boosting his wealth by roughly $84 billion.
Under the merger terms, Musk owns a large stake in the newly merged company, with SpaceX alone now his most valuable asset. Forbes notes Musk’s other holdings — including shares and stock options in Tesla — also contribute significantly to his record-breaking fortune.
At $852 billion, Musk sits far ahead of the world’s next richest individuals and edges closer to becoming the first trillionaire in modern history.
