Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Suswam had previously attributed his decision to leave the PDP to prolonged internal crises within the party, citing unresolved disputes affecting its leadership, structure, discipline, and ideology.
Confirmation of his defection was announced on Wednesday via a Facebook post by his Chief of Staff, Moses Ukeyima. According to the post, Suswam completed his registration as a card-carrying APC member in Mbagber Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
He was enrolled through the party’s ongoing electronic registration platform during an exercise conducted by the APC State Organising Secretary, James Ornguga, alongside Angura Bishop, who represented the state chairman. Suswam was subsequently issued his APC membership card.
Earlier, the former governor explained that his departure from the PDP followed years of internal disagreements that had eroded the party’s cohesion and internal democracy. Despite this, he expressed appreciation to the PDP for providing him opportunities to serve as a member of the House of Representatives, Governor of Benue State, and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
