Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa to brief him on the successful rescue of 183 worshippers abducted from the Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
The governor disclosed via his X account that the meeting, held on Friday, centred on issues of strategic importance to Kaduna State, including security, infrastructure and broader development initiatives aimed at ensuring lasting peace and shared prosperity.
“I briefed Mr President on the safe return of worshippers abducted from churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area, on January 18, 2026,” Sani said.
He explained that the rescue was achieved through meticulous, intelligence-led operations carried out in close coordination between state and federal security agencies.
“I presented a detailed account of the intelligence-driven efforts and the effective collaboration among security agencies that led to the safe rescue of all the victims. This success underscores the value of coordinated leadership, institutional synergy and the professionalism of our security architecture when driven by clear purpose and firm resolve,” the governor added.
Sani also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his constant personal outreach during the two weeks the worshippers were held captive, noting that the President’s calls provided reassurance to the victims’ families and the wider Kaduna community.
Beyond security matters, the meeting also reviewed key infrastructural and development projects in the state. The governor highlighted the commencement of the long-awaited Birnin Gwari road project, describing it as a game-changing intervention that would enhance security, boost economic activity and reconnect previously isolated communities.
He further stressed the need to rehabilitate other major road networks, including the Kaduna Eastern Bypass, the Jere–Kwoi–Kafanchan road and the Zaria–Pambegua–Saminaka road, which he said are critical to regional connectivity and economic integration.
Governor Sani commended the commitment and sacrifices of security personnel involved in the rescue operation and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue working closely with the Federal Government to deliver sustainable security, inclusive infrastructure and meaningful development for the people of Kaduna State.
