Erling Haaland’s stoppage-time penalty secured a dramatic 2–1 victory for Manchester City against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, cutting Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to six points.
City appeared destined for defeat with just six minutes remaining after Dominik Szoboszlai had given Liverpool the lead with a superb free-kick. However, Bernardo Silva’s late equaliser ignited a thrilling finish.
Haaland then converted from the penalty spot to complete the turnaround, before City had another goal ruled out. The incident also saw Szoboszlai sent off following a VAR review, capping a dramatic end to the contest.
