The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists plying the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway to desist from driving against traffic during the ongoing repair works at Kara Bridge.
The Lagos Sector Commander of the Corps, Kehinde Hamzat, issued the warning on Tuesday, stressing that traffic violations would not be tolerated, regardless of the status of the offender.
Hamzat said motorists who flout traffic rules, including those driving security or government vehicles, would be arrested and sanctioned in line with the law.
“Driving against traffic is wrong and constitutes an abuse of office when done by government or security personnel,” he said. “We have already arrested some offenders, and they will either be fined or prosecuted accordingly.”
He explained that FRSC officers have been deployed to the axis and will remain on duty throughout the two-month repair period to enforce traffic discipline, manage vehicular movement, and prevent gridlock.
The sector commander appealed to motorists to exercise patience and comply with traffic regulations, noting that adherence to the rules would help ensure safety and ease congestion while repair works are ongoing.
The Kara Bridge section of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway is currently undergoing rehabilitation, leading to traffic diversions and delays along the corridor.
