The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has announced that it generated a total of ₦28.3 trillion in revenue as of December 2025, marking an increase of over 30% compared to the ₦25.5 trillion collected in 2024.
Mrs. Amina Kurawa, Executive Director overseeing Government and Large Taxpayers, revealed the figures during a staff retreat, noting that the non-oil sector was the main driver of the revenue growth.
Looking ahead, the NRS has set an ambitious ₦40.7 trillion collection target for the 2026 fiscal year, supported by stronger non-oil revenue streams and improved collections from royalty-based income.
The agency expects continued growth in non-oil tax receipts, with Company Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), and the Development Levy projected to play leading roles in boosting government revenue.
Meanwhile, NRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji urged staff to enhance performance in 2026, stressing that transparency and accountability remain central to the agency’s operations.
“We must continue to uphold integrity and efficiency in all our operations to meet our targets and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Adedeji said.
