Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank less than eight months into his tenure following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday, leaving Spurs just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.
The North London club is 16th in the table, without a win in their past eight league matches, their worst run since October 2008. In their last 17 league games, Spurs have won just two, collecting only 12 points.
A club statement read:
“The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. We thank him for his contribution and wish him every success.”
Frank, formerly Brentford’s manager, took over in June 2025 after Ange Postecoglou’s departure and had signed a contract until 2028. Despite strong European performances, including qualifying for the Champions League last 16, Spurs’ league struggles and early exits from both domestic cups—League Cup defeat to Newcastle and FA Cup loss to Aston Villa—sealed his fate.
