The Nigerian Senate will reconvene for plenary on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, despite an earlier scheduled two-week recess.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Odo. He said the notice was issued on the directive of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the statement, the plenary session will commence at 11:00 a.m. in the Senate Chamber.
“I am directed by His Excellency, The President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, to inform all distinguished Senators that the Senate will reconvene plenary session as follows; Date: Tuesday, 17th February, 2026,” the statement read.
Odo further urged lawmakers to adjust their schedules to ensure full attendance, noting that crucial national matters would be deliberated upon during the session.
“Consequently, all distinguished Senators are kindly requested to note and reschedule their engagements accordingly to enable them to attend as very crucial decisions will be taken on national issues during the session,” he added.
